They say you don't know where you're going unless you know where you've been... and Innovative has been some pretty exciting places!
The early days
Founded by Bill Tremblay in 1987 and incorporated January 1, 1990, Innovative was formed to help companies in our primary business area of western Massachusetts better understand and utilize emerging computer technologies. With an original focus on the design and implementation of custom software solutions, we quickly expanded our core competencies to include computer hardware and networking.
In the early 90's, Innovative specialized in supporting regional community banks, as well as a diverse mix of small businesses out of our primary location in Florence, MA, as well as our satellite office in Lee, MA. Additionally, Innovative designed software applications run by clients not only in New England, but throughout the South and Midwest, to the Rocky Mountains and desert Southwest. Today, Innovative is based in Easthampton, MA with a Disaster Recovery Facility and Collocation in Marlborough, MA.
Since our inception, Innovative has implemented a carefully crafted business philosophy of 'Controlled Growth', avoiding the 'Hypergrowth' associated with many technology companies. By fostering and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients, Innovative has earned recognition as one of the fastest growing companies in western Massachusetts nine times in 20 years, from 1995-1999 and again in 2003, 2008, 2009, and 2014 by the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce of Greater Springfield.
Effective August 18, 2003, five long-time employees, Dave DelVecchio, Brian Scanlon, Scott Seifel, Ben Scoble, and Sean Benoit, purchased IBS from founder Bill Tremblay. Bill remained involved through the transition on a consultative basis, stepping down as President in 2006.
To the cloud!
In September 2010, Innovative signed a long-term lease on collocation space and an office suite in a SAS70 Type-II datacenter in Marlborough, MA. We leverage a state-of-the-art environment to offer hosted Exchange, virtual server hosting, off-site data backup and replication services, and D.R. solutions using this Marlborough infrastructure, a suite of services that has seen exponential year-over-year growth. In parallel, we unveiled a new logo and tag line in late 2010 promising "Smarter Technology for Better Business" which in fact, is not just a tag line, but our brand promise to you.
The future is now
In 2014, partner Sean Benoit and his family relocated to Australia, and the "Five Guys" became four. January 1, 2015 marks the 25th corporate anniversary of Innovative, and with the continued vision of being the "best service provider in our geographic footprint", we look forward to what the lies ahead in our second 25 years!
"Our basic philosophy is that most small businesses cannot afford or need a full time Electronic Data Processing Group (IT Dept), but do however, need to maximize the use of micro computers (PCs) to remain competitive. Innovative Business Systems believes that by working with management and users, a comprehensive system can be developed capitalizing on the power of the computer and leaving the users with a system they feel comfortable with, and have been a part of its development." - Mission Statement from 1989 IBS Business Plan
