Did You Know? IBS does that too!
It
often surprises me that after all these years, there are
some clients that don't realize all of the services IBS has
to offer. For example, did you know that:
-
IBS
Offers Home Systems Too! With the name
"Innovative BUSINESS Systems", many people forget
that IBS can be the perfect source for their next
home PC. Why trust your purchase to a
part-time employee at a big-box retailer or over the
phone to an order taker at a mail-order company when
you can rely on the expertise of the professional
computer equipment purchasers at IBS? Put our
expertise to work for you!
 |
-
IBS Offers
Walk-In PC and Printer Repair Service! While
we don't actively promote our walk-in service, IBS
is open to troubleshoot and repair home PCs,
printers, and other equipment. We can assist
you by assessing any hardware or software problems,
or reviewing upgrade options right here at our
Easthampton
office. We offer competitive labor rates and
personalized service from our tech counter.
Why rely on your brother-in-law's cousin who "knows
about computers" to work on your home PC when you can
utilize the same expertise that banks, credit
unions, and small businesses throughout New England
use to keep their systems running
efficiently and effectively everyday?

Tech Review - Connect remote users
via Terminal Services by
Traci Hennessey and Rich Holmes
|
|
|
Collaboration is now a reality at SJG
SJG - The
Spelman &
Johnson Group came to Innovative Business Systems in
2004 for a solution to a business problem. The issue concerned
their remote work force – with employees located all over the
country, sharing files consisted of emails with file attachments
being sent back and forth, creating multiple local copies of the
same file. There was no true server in place that stored all of
their shared files, nor was there a way for the remote work force to
access these files. Employees needed 24x7 access to information,
and this was not possible.
IBS met with
SJG and carefully analyzed their current computing
environment to come up with a solution that would be right for their
business. IBS proposed 2 servers – one was a Windows Small Business
Server with Exchange (which allowed for shared contacts and
calendars in Outlook and the ability to use Outlook Web access,
among other features), and the second was a server to specifically
run an application called “Terminal Services”. |
|
|
|
Terminal
Services
is a component of Microsoft Windows operating systems that
allows a user to access applications or data stored on a remote
computer over a network connection. Terminal Services is
Microsoft's take on server-centric computing, which allows
multiple individual users to access network resources easily.

"IBS
was able to look at our business and determine that there was a
technology solution that could fix our problems, and they laid out
in detail all the pieces we needed to accomplish this.
We were very
nervous about it, but everything has been smooth." -
Julie D. Smith of SJG

Software Focus - Access to
information key for Lamson
& Goodnow
|
|
|
|
|
Lamson & Goodnow Manufacturing Co. of Shelburne Falls, MA, a
manufacturer of high-end cutlery had a substantial amount of
time and resources invested in a modular, full-featured database
management system. The system covered areas of sales, accounts
receivable, accounts payable, accounting, budgeting, material
resource planning and inventory, but still did not provide direct
access to the data that their management wanted to see on a
daily basis. The software did not allow for customization and
the consultants who provided support were very costly and often unresponsive.
IBS performed a 24 hour analysis of
their current hardware and software systems. We conducted
interviews with members of each department to determine project
priorities and presented a plan to management on how to achieve
their IT goals. We identified data redundancies and developed
custom add-ins to their system which allowed for:
1) automatic
generation of consolidated financial statements across their
companies,
2) extensive cleanup of their inventory and
manufacturing formulas,
3) a work order production system that
allowed management to see real-time production on the shop
floor,
4) a self-directed workforce in their manufacturing area.
