Tech Review - Data Consolidation using Network Attached Storage (NAS) technology
- by Scott Seifel
|
|
|
The digital age is here, along with the explosion of information and the never ending demand of storage space. From loan applications and tax filings to music and video, data storage and management of that storage has become a hot topic and a fact of life. Hardware manufacturers have risen to the occasion by offering hard drives with capacities topping out at 750 gigabytes (GB)! |
|
Unfortunately, storage space needs continue to outpace most hard
drive capacities, along with the cost of managing such data. Our
experience has seen the high cost of data storage to be
associated with the constant need to replace or add hard drives
and servers, which required the shutdown of servers or degraded
performance since servers usually run applications needed by the
users.
How can small to midsize businesses maximize server
uptime while utilizing a robust method of increasing storage
space? Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN).

IBS helps Legacy Banks provide better customer service through our
CD Manager application
|
|
|
|
Legacy Banks approached IBS in the fall of 2005
with an idea to help their customers achieve their financial
goals - offering a convenient tool to help manage multiple
Certificates of Deposit (CDs). IBS staff then worked with the
Marketing Department to create an application that made that
information available on demand. |
Launched in summer 2006, CD-Manager, a comprehensive CD management tool developed by IBS, allows the
associates at each Legacy Banks branch to showcase a
customer's CD portfolio in a single glance.
The program provides bar graphs, which
illustrate months-to-maturity, rates, and earnings while
colorful pie charts reveal distribution of funds by account.
The program also allows customers to view proposed scenarios
of potential earnings on new CDs they may open. Legacy
associates are able to provide a variety of CD savings
options and can help point customers toward products that best fit
their needs. The customer can then leave the
bank with an easy-to-read printout of their CD portfolio or proposed CD savings plan.
