Case Study: Data Backup and Recovery Solution for United Bank
Highlighed Technologies: Zenith ARCA Backup and Recovery Solution
Introduction
United Bank is a federally chartered stock bank, headquartered in West Springfield, Massachusetts since 1882, and is committed to providing individuals, families and businesses with quality products, competitive pricing and exceptional customer service. In the summer of 2009, United Bank was experiencing issues with their backup and recovery systems and their IT department called on IBS for strategic technical support and guidance.
Assessment
IBS discussed the desired Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) for United Bank, and based on their requirements, IBS recommended replacing the existing solution with new Zenith Advanced Recovery and Continuity Appliances (ARCA).
Solution
The successful implementation of this solution includes a primary ARCA unit in their production environment to provide local disk-to-disk backup and recovery capabilities, and provides off-site replication to a second ARCA unit for Disaster Recovery. This solution also provides the ability to restore individual items or entire servers "bare metal" requiring no Operating System be installed on the target. Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) were reached using the "Rapid Failover Server" feature to convert the most recent Full backup into a Virtual Machine and run it directly on the unit and take over the functions of a downed server within minutes, keeping United Bank's organization running and connected while new hardware can be sourced. In addition, "Sandbox" features are included for testing the "Rapid Failover Server" feature without interrupting the production network.
IBS delivered Smarter Technology for Better Business at United Bank.
