History

"Innovative Business Systems is an applications development firm specializing in custom designed Database Management Systems for businesses. . . Our basic philosophy is that most small businesses cannot afford or need a full time Electronic Data Processing Group (IT Dept), but do however, need to maximize the use of micro computers (PCs) to remain competitive. Innovative Business Systems believes that by working with management and users, a comprehensive system can be developed capitalizing on the power of the computer and leaving the users with a system they feel comfortable with, and have been a part of its development." - Mission Statement from 1989 Business Plan

Founded by Bill Tremblay in 1987 and incorporated January 1, 1990, IBS was formed to help companies in our primary business area of western Massachusetts better understand and utilize emerging computer technologies. With an original focus on the design and implementation of custom software solutions, we quickly realized that in order to provide the level of support our customers required, we had to expand our core competencies to include computer hardware and networking.

"You guys always come thru when the chips are down and we so appreciate it!" - Julie Smith, Spelman & Johnson Group

Specializing in the banking industry, IBS hardware and networking specialists currently serve as an extension of the IT department for many financial institutions throughout New England. Additionally, IBS serves small businesses throughout western Massachusetts, and has designed software applications run by clients from New England, throughout the South and Midwest, to the Rocky Mountains and desert Southwest.

Since our inception, IBS has implemented a carefully crafted business philosophy of 'Controlled Growth'. Early on we realized that fulfilling our customers' needs was the key to our continued business success. By avoiding the 'Hypergrowth' associated with many technology companies through the 1990s, IBS has been able to consistently increase our annual sales while not alienating the valued customers who got us there. Even with this philosophy, IBS was still named one of the fastest growing companies in western Massachusetts from 1995-1999 and again in 2003 by the Springfield, MA Chamber of Commerce.

Effective August 18, 2003, five long-time employees, Dave DelVecchio, Brian Scanlon, Scott Seifel, Ben Scoble, and Sean Benoit, purchased IBS from founder Bill Tremblay. Bill remains involved through the transition on a consultative basis, as well as working as a resource on select projects.  With a dedicated core management team, IBS is well positioned for continued success now and in the future.
